difficult to find at a mail order nurseries. While
most of these perennials do not attract butterflies or hummingbirds, they are
attractive and definitely on our list of garden-worthy plants. Sunflower (Helianthus decapetalus 'Loddon Gold') Helianthus 'Loddon Gold' grows to about 48" high and produces large 4"-5" yellow flowers July through August. It makes an excellent background plant. 'Caramel' Coral Bells (Heuchera villosa 'Caramel') A new Coral Bell hybrid introduced by French breeder Thierry Delabroye, 'Caramel' has foliage of a soft caramel color. 'Caramel' Coral Bells is more vigorous and longer-lived than other caramel colored Coral Bells. Campion (Lychnis coronaria) Rose Campion grows 24" - 36" tall and produces bright, velvety, magenta-pink colored flowers over fuzzy gray foliage. Its flowers are 1" wide and are held in broad, open, branching clusters above the foliage. Individual plants are often short lived but it usually self sows in abundance.
