   Rose Franklin's Perennials, a mail order nursery, offers many perennial plants that are often difficult to find but are garden worthy and worth the search. On this page we offer several of those plants.

   We are able to ship plants from our mail order nursery to the following states within the USA:  Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. State and Federal regulations prohibit us from shipping to other destinations. If you do not live in one of the states we are permitted to ship to, please do not place an order. We will not ship your order and will charge you a $3.00 service charge to cancel your order and return your payment.

We ship May thru October.   Most of our perennials are shipped in 3" to  4" pots.
A few may be shipped bare root.  Most should bloom this summer.
Unless otherwise noted, the plants on this page prefer full sun.
We ship orders via USPS Priority Mail.

Leatherleaf Angelica    (Angelica pachycarpa )     

Native to New Zealand, Leatherleaf Angelica produces spectacular, large white umbels over highly glossy, leathery foliage. Maturing at 36"-48" high, it grows well in full sun or part shade. A showy ornamental! Deer resistant.

Sea Pinks    (Armeria maritima )      a.k.a. Thrift

Small bright pink pom-pom like flowers adorn mounds of  grassy foliage May thru June . Growing just 6"-10" high, Sea Pinks make a wonderful plant for the front of a perennial garden. Also great for rock gardens, Sea Pinkss generally do well in poor, sandy soil. Deer resistant.

Japanese Painted Fern, Athyrium nipponicum 'Pictum' Japanese Painted Fern
(Athryium nipponicum 'Pictum')

One of the most colorful ferns, Japanese Painted Fern grows to about 12" high and has grayish-green and silver foliage and reddish colored stems.  Japanese Painted Fern grows best in a location where it is protected from the hot afternoon sun.

'Carolina Moonlight' False Indigo
(Baptisia 'Carolina Moonlight')

'Carolina Moonlight' False Indigo grows 36" - 40" high and produces yellow sweet pea-like blossoms. Its flower spikes rise above its foliage on sturdy stems. Usually blooming the month of June, it produces interesting seed pods after flowering. The foliage of this bold plant is beautiful and lush from spring thru late fall. A beautiful perennial that is hard to find.     Deer resistant.

Variegated Wintercress
(Barbarea vulgaris 'Variegata')

Growing 18"-24" high, Variegated Wintercress is edible and produces bright yellow flowers May thru June. Its foliage is glossy green, edged and marbled in creamy yellow. Said to take somewhat like Watercress.

Lemon Fluff
(Centaurea macrocephala)

Growing 36"-40" high, Lemon Fluff produces bright yellow flowers May thru June. The flower buds somewhat resemble little pineapples. Lemon Fluff prefers full sun and is deer resistant.

'Sheffield' Mum   (Dendranthema 'Sheffield')

'Sheffield' Mums grows 24" - 30" high and yield lots of pale pink daisy-like flowers from late September thru October. Easy to grow. Very hardy.

'Radiance' Dianthus


Dianthus 'Radiance' grows 6" - 8" high and yields lots of double deep red flowers above gray-green foliage. Compact and fragrant.

Gas Plant, Dictamnus fraxinella 'Rubra, alba, mail order perennials Gas Plant
(Dictamnus fraxinella 'Rubra')

A favorite at our mail order nursery, Gas Plant grows to about 36" high and produces beautiful pink flower spikes in late spring. The leaves and flowers have a fragrant lemon scent. Rose Franklin's favorite perennial plant!...and as discovered by Rose, a host plant for Giant Swallowtail butterflies. Probably will not bloom until 2008. Deer resistant.

'Green Envy' Coneflower
(Echinacea 'Green Envy' )

A brand new Coneflower! Echinacea 'Green Envy' grows 24" - 28" high and produces daisy-like flowers that are green with a pink flush near the center. Blooms  July thru August. Deer resistant and drought tolerant.

May not be ready for shipping until late May.

'Sundown' Orange Coneflower
(Echinacea species 'Sundown')

'Sundown' Orange Coneflower produces flowers that are a bit smaller than those of 'Sunset' but it produces more flowers, and the flower color in a more intense orange than those of 'Sunset'. 'Sundown' Echinacea grows 24"-30" high and blooms July thru September. Deer resistant and drought tolerant.

Hardy Ageratum  (also known as Mist Flower or Wild Ageratum)
(Eupatorium coelestinum)

Resembling annual Ageratum, this perennial grows 18"-24" high and produces clusters of rich lavender-blue flowers September thru October. A fast spreader that blooms after most plants have passed their prime. Beautiful fall accent plant!

White Boneset  (Eupatorium rugosum 'Chocolate')   a.k.a. White Snakeroot

White Boneset grows 24"-26" high and produces clusters of small white flowers over chocolate-purple foliage. It blooms August thru September and prefers moist soil..

Robb's Spurge  (Euphorbia amygdaloides var. robbiae)

A great ground cover for soil that is moderately moist to dry, Robb's Spurge produces a thick carpet of evergreen, deep green foliage. Yellow flowers adorn the plant in spring. Grows well in full sun or part shade. Be careful of the white milky sap inside the stems though as it can cause skin and eye irritation. Drought tolerant.

'Ascot Rainbow' Spurge  (Euphorbia xmartinii 'Ascot Rainbow')

Maturing at 20"-24" high, this perennial is grown primarily for its foliage, this eye-catching plant has yellow, green, and light green variegation. Cooler weather turns the tips of the stems a stunning deep red. Grows well in full sun or part shade. Be careful of the white milky sap inside the stems though as it can cause skin and eye irritation. Drought tolerant.

Queen of the Prairie  (Filipendula rubra 'Venusta'')

A tall, stately perennial, maturing at 48"-60"" high, 'Venusta' Queen-of-the-Prairie blooms June thru July. It thrives in rich, moist soils and grows well in full sun or part shade. A U.S. native.

'Pink Panda' Ornamental Strawberry  (Fragaria 'Pink Panda')

Maturing at just 6"-8" high, 'Pink Panda' Ornamental Strawberry blooms May thru July and sometimes produces small edible strawberries. Grows well in full sun or part shade. 'Pink Panda' spreads rapidly via runners so that it can be used as a ground cover.

'Borisii' Avens grows to about 12" high and produces 1" bright orange flowers late May through July. Geranium-like foliage of medium green.

Avens 'Mrs. Bradshaw'  (Geum chiloense 'Mrs. Bradshaw')

'Mrs. Bradshaw' Avens grows 18"-24" high and produces 2" bright scarlet flowers late May through July. As the flowers fade, they turn orange and yellow. Geranium-like foliage of medium green.

'Hocus Pocus' Cranesbill   (Geranium pratense 'Hocus Pocus')

''Hocus Pocus' Cranesbill grows 18"-24" high and produces an abundance of lavender-blue flowers late May thru June. Its leaves are chocolately purple-black. The dark, deep cut leaves make this plant an attractive accent even when not in bloom.

'Rozanne' Cranesbill   (Geranium 'Rozanne')

''Rozanne' Cranesbill grows 16"-20" high and produces an abundance of violet-blue flowers with distinctive white eyes from June thru August. Its flowers appear above mounds of deep green foliage that spread 24"-30" wide. Easy to grow, long blooming, and deer resistant too.

Pink Baby's Breath    (Gypsophila paniculata 'Pink Fairy')

'Pink Fairy' Baby's Breath grows 18"-24" high and produces clouds of tiny pink flowers. Often difficult to find at nurseries, pink-flowering Baby's Breath makes a great cut flower. 
A plant I (Rose Franklin) would not be without. I love this particular Baby's Breath!
