Rose Franklin's Perennials, a mail order nursery, offers many perennial plants that are often difficult to find but are garden worthy and worth the search. On this page we offer several of those plants.

State and Federal regulations prohibit us from shipping to other destinations. If you do not live in one of the states we are permitted to ship to, please do not place an order. We will not ship your order and will charge you a $3.00 service charge to cancel your order and return your payment.

'Moonshine' Yarrow
(Achillea 'Moonshine')

'Moonshine' Yarrow produces bright yellow flower heads which are 3 to 4 inches in diameter June thru July and generally matures at about 18". Its foliage remains silvery from spring thru fall. Deer resistant and drought tolerant.
Perennial, zones 5-8. Sorry, temporarily sold out.

'Cerise Queen' Yarrow
(Achillea millefolium 'Cerise Queen')

'Cerise Queen' Yarrow produces bright pink flower heads and generally blooms June thru July. It grows 24"-30" high and has green ferny foliage. Deer resistant and drought tolerant.

Angelica gigas

Angelica gigas grows 4' - 6' tall and produces large umbels of wine colored flowers above huge, bold foliage. It generally blooms June thru July. While Angelica is a biennial, self-sown seedlings should assure a continuing supply of plants without any effort on the gardener's part. Deer resistant.
Biennial which reseeds. May be available in June, 2008.

Astilbe 'Fanal'

One of the best perennials for shade, Fanal' Astilbe matures at 20"-28" high and produces feathery carmine red flower plumes in mid summer. Astilbes prefer shady locations but will tolerate full sun if the soil is kept moist. Deer resistant.
Perennial, zones 4-8. May be available in May, 2007.

Astilbe arendsii 'Showstar', mail order nursery

Astilbe 'Showstar'

One of the best perennials for shade, 'Showstar' Astilbe matures at about 12 " high and produces feathery flower plumes in mid summer. Flower color may red, pink, or white. Sorry, no choice of flower color. Astilbes prefer shady locations but will tolerate full sun if the soil is kept moist. Deer resistant.

Astilbe taquetii

Growing to about 30" high, Astilbe taquetii produces pinkish lavender spikes July thru August. More drought tolerant than most Astilbes, Astilbe taquetii grows well in any situation between full shad and full sun. Deer resistant.

Japanese Painted Fern, Athyrium nipponicum 'Pictum'

One of the most colorful ferns, Japanese Painted Fern grows to about 12" high and has grayish-green and silver foliage and reddish colored stems. Japanese Painted Fern grows best in a location where it is protected from the hot afternoon sun.

False Indigo
(Baptisia australis)

False Indigo grows 36" - 40" high and produces blue sweet pea-like blossoms. Its flower spikes rise above blue-green foliage on gray stems. Usually blooming the month of June, it produces interesting seed pods after flowering. The foliage of this bold plant is beautiful and lush from spring thru late fall. A beautiful perennial that is hard to find. Deer resistant. Our 2008 crop is a nice one!

Blackberry Lily
(Belamcanda chinensis)

Blackberry Lily has Iris-like leaves, grows 24"-36" tall, and produces bright orange flowers with darker speckles July thru August. After the flowers fade, seed capsules appear and then later, split open to reveal rows of jet black seeds.

Keys of Heaven (a.k.a. Red Valerian)

Growing 24"-30" tall, Keys of Heaven usually blooms July thru August. Producing clusters of coral red flowers, this plant is easy to grow. It often reseeds. Deer resistant.

Growing 18"-24" tall, 'Clara Curtis' Mum usually blooms from mid July through late September. Producing pink daisies, this plant was formerly named Leucanthemum zawadskii 'Clara Curtis'. Deer resistant.

A favorite at our mail order nursery, Gas Plant grows to about 36" high and produces beautiful pink flower spikes in late spring. The leaves and flowers have a fragrant lemon scent. Rose Franklin's favorite perennial plant!...and as discovered by Rose, a host plant for Giant Swallowtail butterflies. Probably will not bloom until 2008. Deer resistant.

Peachleaf Bellflower grows 24"-30" tall and produces elegant columns of blue bell-shaped flowers. Generally blooms June thru July.

Pink Cornflower grows 18"-24" high and produces fringed rose-pink flowers over lobed leaves. Generally blooms June thru July. Deer resistant.

'Pacific Giant' Delphinium
(Delphinium elatum 'Pacific Giants')

Delphinium 'Pacific Giant' grows 48"-60" high and produces flower spikes which may be blue, violet, pink, purple, mauve, or white. The towering flower spikes may be top heavy and require staking. A stately addition to the garden! Prefers a humus-rich soil. Deer resistant. Sorry, no choice of color.

'Grenadin' Miniature Carnation grows about 15" high and 20" wide. Its fragrant 2" blooms may be red, pink, white, or yellow. Some of these plants produce single blossoms but most produce doubled flowers. Sorry, no choice of color.

Growing 24"-36" high, 'Artic Glow' Globe Thistle has silvery-green foliage, burgundy-red stems, and white ball shaped flowers July thru August. Its leaves are quite jaggy at their tips so be careful when working around this plant. Deer resistant.

'Sapphire Blue' Sea Holly grows 24"-30" high and produces large steel blue blooms July thru August. Prefers full sun.

Fragaria 'Lipstick', Ornamental Strawberry

Ornamental Strawberry ( Fragaria 'Lipstick')

This perennial resembles a strawberry plant (and sometimes even produces tiny edible strawberries) but their flowers are dark pink. They generally bloom May thru June, grow to only about 6" high, and trail across the ground.
